Equipos de piscina para el mercado kuwaití
Waterstar manufactures pool pumps, sand filters, LED lighting and fittings in Egypt and supplies distributors in Kuwait. Duty-free under GAFTA with a certificate of origin.
What we manufacture and ship to Kuwait
Waterstar is a swimming pool equipment manufacturer, not a pool contractor. Everything we supply into Kuwait is produced at our own plant in Badr City Industrial Zone, east of Cairo, where we have built pool equipment since 1993 and from which we export to 14 countries. The range is a complete plant-room and pool-shell catalogue from one factory: self-priming circulation pumps in single-phase and three-phase versions, filament-wound sand filters from villa sizes up to 2000 mm, pre-assembled filtration units, 12 V underwater LED lighting with matching transformers and junction boxes, wide-mouth and standard skimmers, main drains, wall and floor inlets, ABS fittings and check valves, overflow gratings, stainless steel and plastic ladders, spa fittings and jets, and cleaning equipment.
Because every component is designed, moulded and assembled in-house, a distributor buys from one manufacturer rather than assembling a container from several trading sources — and the spare parts (seals, impellers, baskets, lids, multiport valves) come from the same production line as the units they belong to, years after the original shipment.
Specifying for Kuwait's conditions
Kuwait is the hardest climate in the Gulf for pool plant: summer air above 45 °C, pool water that climbs past 35 °C without cooling, fine dust that loads the filter bed between backwashes, and strong UV on every exposed component. The equipment that lasts here is the equipment that was over-specified for it. For Kuwaiti conditions we steer distributors towards sand filters sized for a shorter filtration cycle than the nominal turnover suggests, pumps run on the lower part of their curve rather than at the limit, UV-stabilised ABS for every fitting that sees daylight, and LED lighting with the driver kept in a dry, ventilated niche rather than in the pool deck.
Kuwait's grid is 50 Hz, as Egypt's is, so standard Waterstar pump motors, transformers and lighting are specified as catalogued, without the 60 Hz re-rating that Saudi projects need; the single-phase and three-phase voltages in use are within the motors' rated tolerance, and the datasheet of each model states the exact figures.
Customs duty, VAT and documents for Kuwait
Egypt and Kuwait are both members of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA). Equipment of Egyptian origin shipped with an Arab certificate of origin — Waterstar's products are manufactured in Badr City with well over the 40 % Egyptian value added the rules of origin require — enters Kuwait without customs duty under that agreement. Without the certificate, the GCC common external tariff (5 % on most goods) applies instead. Kuwait applies no value-added tax at the time of writing (October 2026). The importer of record confirms the current treatment with its customs broker; we issue the certificate of origin, the commercial invoice, the packing list and the technical file with every shipment.
Waterstar's factory operates certified management systems to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and the products carry CE marking. Any conformity registration the importing country requires for electrical or pool products is the importer's step; we supply the technical file, datasheets and test data it is built from, so that work is done from the manufacturer's data rather than reconstructed from a catalogue.
Shipping and commercial terms
Shipments leave from the Egyptian Mediterranean or Red Sea ports as full containers (20' or 40') or as LCL groupage, to Shuwaikh or Shuaiba via the Gulf feeder services. Quotations are ex-works Badr City or FOB Egyptian port, in US dollars, with the container plan worked out from the catalogue's packed volumes so a distributor's first order fills the box it pays for. We do not quote transit times on this page: they depend on the sailing and the port, and the forwarder's schedule at order time is the only honest figure.
The distributor position in Kuwait
Demand in Kuwait comes from three directions: private villa pools in the residential areas and the chalets of the southern coast, where the owner replaces a failing imported pump or filter and wants parts that will still exist in five years; compound and club pools maintained under contract, where a single supplier for pumps, filters, fittings and consumables simplifies the maintenance company's stock; and the hotel and leisure projects whose consultants specify by datasheet. A Kuwaiti distributor who holds stock serves all three, and the spare-parts line — seals, impellers, baskets, lids, multiport valves — is usually what turns a first container into a repeat account.
A first enquiry gets the range with wholesale terms so a container can be priced properly, sizing support from the engineers who designed the equipment, and datasheets for every line you intend to stock. We do not ask for an exclusive commitment before that conversation. Send the project types you serve and the categories you want to carry, and we come back with a costed proposal.
