Équipements de piscine pour le marché nigérian
Waterstar manufactures pool pumps, sand filters, LED lighting and fittings in Egypt and supplies distributors in Nigeria. Form M, SONCAP and PAAR sequence explained; documents issued with every shipment.
What we manufacture and ship to Nigeria
Waterstar is a swimming pool equipment manufacturer, not a pool contractor. Everything we supply into Nigeria is produced at our own plant in Badr City Industrial Zone, east of Cairo, where we have built pool equipment since 1993 and from which we export to 14 countries. The range is a complete plant-room and pool-shell catalogue from one factory: self-priming circulation pumps in single-phase and three-phase versions, filament-wound sand filters from villa sizes up to 2000 mm, pre-assembled filtration units, 12 V underwater LED lighting with matching transformers and junction boxes, wide-mouth and standard skimmers, main drains, wall and floor inlets, ABS fittings and check valves, overflow gratings, stainless steel and plastic ladders, spa fittings and jets, and cleaning equipment.
Because every component is designed, moulded and assembled in-house, a distributor buys from one manufacturer rather than assembling a container from several trading sources — and the spare parts (seals, impellers, baskets, lids, multiport valves) come from the same production line as the units they belong to, years after the original shipment.
Specifying for Nigeria's conditions
Nigeria's pool market is in Lagos first — Lekki, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, the estates along the Lekki corridor — then Abuja and Port Harcourt, in villas, estates, hotels and clubs. The climate is hot and humid year-round with a long rainy season, so pools run twelve months, filters see heavy organic load, and corrosion is constant. Power is the design issue specific to Nigeria: plant rooms often run on generator or inverter supply for part of the day, so the installer checks each motor's voltage window and starting current against the site supply, and keeps the pump on the lower part of its curve to give the supply margin.
Nigeria's grid is 50 Hz, as Egypt's is, so standard Waterstar pump motors, transformers and lighting are specified as catalogued; the 230/415 V supply in use is within the motors' rated tolerance, and the datasheet of each model states the exact figures.
Customs duty, VAT and documents for Nigeria
Nigeria applies the ECOWAS Common External Tariff (2022–2027 edition) to goods from outside West Africa, with the importer's broker classifying each line by HS code. Nigeria began applying preferences under the African Continental Free Trade Area in 2024 and Egypt is a State Party too, so whether a line already enjoys a reduced AfCFTA rate — against an AfCFTA certificate of origin — is checked per HS code before the order. On top of duty, Nigeria charges a 7 % surcharge on the duty, a 1 % comprehensive import supervision charge on the FOB value, the 0.5 % ECOWAS levy on CIF, and VAT at 7.5 % on the accumulated base. The sequence that decides whether a shipment clears without a hold: the Nigerian importer opens Form M through its bank on the Single Window before the goods are ordered; for regulated products such as pumps and electrical items, a Product Certificate and then a SONCAP Certificate are obtained from a SON-accredited agency before shipment; and the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report is generated before the vessel arrives. We supply the product data, test records and shipping documents each step is built from.
Any conformity registration the importing country requires for electrical or pool products is the importer's step; we supply the technical file, datasheets and factory test records it is built from, so that work is done from the manufacturer's data rather than reconstructed from a catalogue.
Shipping and commercial terms
Shipments leave from the Egyptian Mediterranean or Red Sea ports as full containers (20' or 40') or as LCL groupage, to Lagos (Apapa, Tin Can or Lekki) via West African services. Quotations are ex-works Badr City or FOB Egyptian port, in US dollars, with the container plan worked out from the catalogue's packed volumes so a distributor's first order fills the box it pays for. We do not quote transit times on this page: they depend on the sailing and the port, and the forwarder's schedule at order time is the only honest figure.
The distributor position in Nigeria
Nigeria imports almost all of its pool equipment, mostly from Europe, Turkey and China through Lagos trading companies and the pool contractors who build and maintain. For a distributor the question is the total landed cost after the full tax stack and the time a container spends in the process — both favour a supplier whose documents are complete the first time. We issue the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and technical file with every shipment and present goods for SONCAP inspection at the factory. We sell through distributors only — no direct sales and no installation in Nigeria.
A first enquiry gets the range with wholesale terms so a container can be priced properly, sizing support from the engineers who designed the equipment, and datasheets for every line you intend to stock. We do not ask for an exclusive commitment before that conversation. Send the project types you serve and the categories you want to carry, and we come back with a costed proposal.
