Schwimmbadtechnik für den algerischen Markt

Waterstar manufactures pool pumps, sand filters, LED lighting and fittings in Egypt and supplies importers in Algeria. GAFTA member market; duty treatment confirmed per tariff line before the order.

What we manufacture and ship to Algeria

Waterstar is a swimming pool equipment manufacturer, not a pool contractor. Everything we supply into Algeria is produced at our own plant in Badr City Industrial Zone, east of Cairo, where we have built pool equipment since 1993 and from which we export to 14 countries. The range is a complete plant-room and pool-shell catalogue from one factory: self-priming circulation pumps in single-phase and three-phase versions, filament-wound sand filters from villa sizes up to 2000 mm, pre-assembled filtration units, 12 V underwater LED lighting with matching transformers and junction boxes, wide-mouth and standard skimmers, main drains, wall and floor inlets, ABS fittings and check valves, overflow gratings, stainless steel and plastic ladders, spa fittings and jets, and cleaning equipment.

Because every component is designed, moulded and assembled in-house, a distributor buys from one manufacturer rather than assembling a container from several trading sources — and the spare parts (seals, impellers, baskets, lids, multiport valves) come from the same production line as the units they belong to, years after the original shipment.

Specifying for Algeria's conditions

Algeria's pools are concentrated on the coast — Algiers and its suburbs, Oran, Annaba, Béjaïa — in private villas, the hotel and resort projects of the last decade, and public and club facilities. The coastal climate is Mediterranean: a hot, dry summer, salt in the air, and a long shoulder season. Inland the summer is harder and the water warmer. The equipment that suits it is the same Mediterranean package Waterstar builds for Egypt's own coast: skimmer and overflow systems, filament-wound sand filters, 12 V LED lighting, ABS fittings that tolerate UV and chlorine.

Algeria's grid is 50 Hz, as Egypt's is, so standard Waterstar pump motors, transformers and lighting are specified as catalogued; the 230/400 V supply in use is within the motors' rated tolerance, and the datasheet of each model states the exact figures.

Customs duty, VAT and documents for Algeria

Algeria is a member of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, under which goods of Egyptian origin with an Arab certificate of origin (40 % Egyptian value added) are in principle exempt from customs duty. In practice Algeria maintains a negative list of goods excluded from the GAFTA exemption — extended to about 1,260 tariff lines in 2025 — and applies additional provisional safeguard duties to many imports, so whether a given pool-equipment line benefits is confirmed by the importer with Algerian customs, per HS code, before the order is placed. Algeria applies VAT at 19 % on imports. Import formalities — the bank domiciliation of the purchase and any registration required for electrical products — sit with the Algerian importer; we supply the commercial and technical documents they are built from.

Any conformity registration the importing country requires for electrical or pool products is the importer's step; we supply the technical file, datasheets and factory test records it is built from, so that work is done from the manufacturer's data rather than reconstructed from a catalogue.

Shipping and commercial terms

Shipments leave from the Egyptian Mediterranean or Red Sea ports as full containers (20' or 40') or as LCL groupage, to Algiers, Oran or Béjaïa. Quotations are ex-works Badr City or FOB Egyptian port, in US dollars, with the container plan worked out from the catalogue's packed volumes so a distributor's first order fills the box it pays for. We do not quote transit times on this page: they depend on the sailing and the port, and the forwarder's schedule at order time is the only honest figure.

The distributor position in Algeria

Algeria is a market for an established importer: the formalities reward a company that already imports regularly, holds its bank domiciliation and knows the customs practice for electrical goods. For such a partner, a manufacturer in Egypt — Arabic- and French-speaking, inside GAFTA, a short Mediterranean leg from Algiers — with a full catalogue and the spare parts that keep a pool running for years is a different proposition from assembling supply from several European or Asian sources. We sell through distributors only; no direct sales and no installation in Algeria.

A first enquiry gets the range with wholesale terms so a container can be priced properly, sizing support from the engineers who designed the equipment, and datasheets for every line you intend to stock. We do not ask for an exclusive commitment before that conversation. Send the project types you serve and the categories you want to carry, and we come back with a costed proposal.
