Swimming Pool Maintenance Checklist — Monthly, Weekly & Daily Tasks

## Daily Tasks (5 minutes) - Check and empty the skimmer basket — a full basket reduces pump flow - Visually inspect water clarity — clear water is a sign of balanced chemistry - Check that the pump is running and water is circulating - Remove any visible debris with a leaf skimmer net ## Weekly Tasks (30 minutes) - Test water chemistry: pH (target 7.2–7.6), free chlorine (1–3 ppm), alkalinity (80–120 ppm) - Adjust chemicals based on test results - Brush pool walls and floor to prevent algae attachment - Vacuum pool floor — use your Waterstar flexible vacuum head and cobra hose - Check and clean the pump strainer basket - Inspect the filter pressure gauge — if pressure is 8–10 psi above normal, backwash ## Monthly Tasks (1 hour) - Backwash the sand filter - Shock-treat the pool with a chlorine shock dose — kills algae and chloramines - Inspect all fittings, inlets, and drains for cracks or leaks - Check underwater lights are working correctly - Lubricate o-rings and seals on pump and filter multiport valve - Check pump motor for unusual noise or vibration ## Seasonal Tasks - Opening: Deep clean the pool, refill to proper level, balance chemistry, run pump 24h - Closing: Reduce chemical levels, lower water below skimmer, cover pool, winterize pump ## Waterstar Tip The most common cause of pool problems in Egypt is pH drift due to high temperatures and heavy use in summer. Test your pH twice a week in July and August.
