Waterstar manufactures pool pumps, sand filters, LED lighting and fittings in Egypt and supplies distributors in Morocco. Duty-free under the Agadir Agreement and GAFTA with a certificate of origin.
What we manufacture and ship to Morocco
Waterstar is a swimming pool equipment manufacturer, not a pool contractor. Everything we supply into Morocco is produced at our own plant in Badr City Industrial Zone, east of Cairo, where we have built pool equipment since 1993 and from which we export to 14 countries. The range is a complete plant-room and pool-shell catalogue from one factory: self-priming circulation pumps in single-phase and three-phase versions, filament-wound sand filters from villa sizes up to 2000 mm, pre-assembled filtration units, 12 V underwater LED lighting with matching transformers and junction boxes, wide-mouth and standard skimmers, main drains, wall and floor inlets, ABS fittings and check valves, overflow gratings, stainless steel and plastic ladders, spa fittings and jets, and cleaning equipment.
Because every component is designed, moulded and assembled in-house, a distributor buys from one manufacturer rather than assembling a container from several trading sources — and the spare parts (seals, impellers, baskets, lids, multiport valves) come from the same production line as the units they belong to, years after the original shipment.
Specifying for Morocco's conditions
Morocco's pool stock is spread between the villas and riads of Marrakech, the residential districts of Casablanca and Rabat, the Atlantic coast from Agadir to Essaouira, and the hotel and resort pools that the tourism programme keeps adding. Inland the summer is hot and dry with dust that loads the filter bed; on the Atlantic coast the air carries salt and the water stays cooler, so corrosion resistance and a longer season matter more than peak heat. Marrakech pools in particular run most of the year, which puts hours on the pump and makes a generously sized sand filter and a pump run below its limit the economical choice over the pool's life.
Morocco's grid is 50 Hz, as Egypt's is, so standard Waterstar pump motors, transformers and lighting are specified as catalogued; the 230/400 V supply in use is within the motors' rated tolerance, and the datasheet of each model states the exact figures.
Customs duty, VAT and documents for Morocco
Egypt and Morocco are both members of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and of the Agadir Agreement (in force since 2006). Industrial goods of Egyptian origin enter Morocco free of customs duty under either: with an Arab certificate of origin under GAFTA (40 % Egyptian value added — Waterstar's equipment is manufactured in Badr City well above that threshold), or with a EUR.1 / EUR-MED movement certificate under the Agadir Agreement, which applies the pan-Euro-Mediterranean rules of origin. Morocco applies VAT at 20 % on imports, settled by the importer at clearance. The importer of record confirms the current treatment with its customs broker; we issue the certificate of origin, commercial invoice, packing list and technical file with every shipment.
Any conformity registration the importing country requires for electrical or pool products is the importer's step; we supply the technical file, datasheets and factory test records it is built from, so that work is done from the manufacturer's data rather than reconstructed from a catalogue.
Shipping and commercial terms
Shipments leave from the Egyptian Mediterranean or Red Sea ports as full containers (20' or 40') or as LCL groupage, to Casablanca or Tanger Med. Quotations are ex-works Badr City or FOB Egyptian port, in US dollars, with the container plan worked out from the catalogue's packed volumes so a distributor's first order fills the box it pays for. We do not quote transit times on this page: they depend on the sailing and the port, and the forwarder's schedule at order time is the only honest figure.
The distributor position in Morocco
Morocco has a mature pool trade: piscinistes who build and maintain, and importers who have supplied them for years from Spain and France. A manufacturer in Egypt inside the same free-trade area is a second supply line with the same Mediterranean-market product logic — skimmer and overflow pools, 12 V lighting, sand filtration — at a different cost base, with Arabic- and French-speaking technical support. We sell through distributors only; we do not sell direct to pool owners in Morocco and we do not install. The programme is open to an importer or a pool company that will hold stock, carry spares and support installers in its region.
A first enquiry gets the range with wholesale terms so a container can be priced properly, sizing support from the engineers who designed the equipment, and datasheets for every line you intend to stock. We do not ask for an exclusive commitment before that conversation. Send the project types you serve and the categories you want to carry, and we come back with a costed proposal.
