The Valve That Tunes the Massage

In every concrete jacuzzi I have commissioned, the difference between a spa that feels luxurious and one that feels flat comes down to air metering. The venturi jets draw air into the pressurised water stream, and the amount of air admitted decides whether a seat delivers a gentle ripple or a vigorous churn. Our AC-SPA air controller is the valve that makes this adjustable: a 3/4 inch fitting with a body, plastic nut and an adjustable air regulator that the bather turns by hand at deck level. Without it, the massage intensity stays fixed forever at whatever the pipework happens to give, and the client loses the very control a jacuzzi is bought for.

Installing the AC-SPA Correctly

Mount the controller on the pool deck or coping above the water line, where the air intake can never be flooded, and run its line down to the air manifold feeding the venturi mixers. The plastic nut clamps the body through the deck penetration; tighten it against the gasket face by hand and resist the urge to use tools that crack the nut. Keep the air run short and free of low points where condensation collects, because a slug of water in the air line makes the jets sputter and rattle. Fit one controller per jet group so that each seat gets its own adjustment instead of one compromise setting for the whole spa.
