Fixed Points at the Pool Ends

Every tensioned lane line ultimately pulls against two small components cast into the pool structure: the anchor cups at either end wall. Waterstar manufactures two versions to match the two dominant construction methods in the region, the ACC-1 anchor cup for concrete pools and the ACL-1 anchor cup for liner pools. Cups are set out along the end walls at the lane spacing of the pool, one pair per lane, positioned during construction or refurbishment so that each line pulls straight and true along its lane axis. Getting these positions right at the build stage is far cheaper than correcting them later, which is why anchor layout belongs on the pool drawings from the first competition-pool sketch.

Matched to Concrete and Liner Structures

The two cup designs exist because concrete and liner pools hold an anchor very differently. The ACC-1 is intended to be cast or set solidly into the concrete wall structure, where the surrounding mass carries the line load directly. The ACL-1 is shaped for liner pools, where the fitting must anchor firmly while respecting the waterproof membrane that the liner provides. In both cases the cup presents a flush, unobtrusive socket when lanes are not rigged, leaving no protruding hardware for swimmers to strike. Choosing the correct cup for the wall construction is a small specification decision that decides whether the whole lane system feels solid for decades or works loose within seasons.

Working With the Spring and Wire Lock

Anchor cups do their work as one half of a tensioning pair. On rigging day, the lane line's stainless wire terminates through the SH-1 wire lock, the SS-1 stainless spring is hooked between line and anchor, and the assembly is drawn up until the spring holds the line at constant working tension. The cup receives all of that load, every day the lanes are up, which is why Waterstar produces the cups and the tensioning hardware as a matched system rather than leaving builders to improvise the interface. Contractors and pool owners are invited to send wall construction details and lane layouts to the Waterstar factory engineers for a complete anchoring and tensioning specification.
