How a Venturi Jet Builds Its Massage

A spa jet is a simple machine that must be executed precisely. Our WAI concrete spa fitting is a water and air jet mixer, a venturi tee welded to a 1.5 inch pipe. Pressurised water from the circulation pump accelerates through the narrowed throat, its pressure falls, and air from the blower line is drawn in and folded into the stream. What emerges at the wall is not a bare squirt of water but an aerated, pulsing column that works muscle the way a paying client expects. Get the venturi right and the whole spa feels right; starve it of water or air and no finish or lighting will rescue the experience.

The JN-1 Nozzle at the Wall

The part the bather actually sees is our JN-1 return inlet jet nozzle, fitted with an ABS directional flow ball made to sit inside a 1.5 inch pipe. The ball socket lets you aim every jet after the concrete is cast, up the spine of a lounger or across the shoulders of a corner seat, which forgives the small placement errors that every site produces. ABS resists chlorinated water and sunlight far better than commodity plastics, and the ball strips out for cleaning without disturbing the fitting behind it. Aim the jets at commissioning with the spa full and the blower running; that is when the truth appears.

Laying Out Jets for a Concrete Shell

Plan jet positions around the seats, not evenly around the wall; a jet must land on a back or a calf, not on open water. Balance the pipe runs so the farthest seat is not the weakest, and give every WAI mixer the air supply its venturi needs to breathe.
