Three wattages, one 12V family

When a niche light goes dark, the fitting cast into the pool wall is usually fine: it is the lamp inside that has reached the end of its life. The Waterstar replacement range covers exactly that job with three bulbs — LB-18 at eighteen watts, LB-24 at twenty-four watts and LB-36 at thirty-six watts. All three run on 12 volts, carry a transparent lens that delivers the light into the water without tinting it, and are offered in warm or white so a replacement can match the fittings already installed around the pool. Matching the bulb to the existing niche light

The right replacement is the one the circuit was designed for. Read the wattage from the old lamp or the fixture plate and stay with it: LB-18 for an eighteen watt fitting, LB-24 for twenty-four, LB-36 for thirty-six. Substituting a higher wattage loads the safety transformer beyond its sizing, and mixing warm and white sources around one pool produces patchwork water, so replace like with like — or change every fitting in the same season if a new colour temperature is wanted. Replacing without draining below niche level

A niche light is built so that its lamp can be renewed from the wet side, and the practical benefit is enormous: the pool does not need to be emptied below the level of the niche, and nobody waits for a winter shutdown to restore the lighting. The fixture is opened at the pool wall, the old lamp is disconnected, the new bulb seats onto the brass contacts and the assembly is resealed — with the lighting circuit isolated at the transformer before any work begins. Because the bulbs run on 12 volts, the whole exercise remains a routine service task rather than an electrical project.
