Anti-Vortex Drains for Spa and Jacuzzi Pools
Anti-vortex spa drains from Waterstar Egypt: DS-THR 1.5 inch threaded and DS-WLD weld 50 mm, each with body, gaskets, nut and screws. ISO 9001 factory, Badr City.
The Drain Is a Safety Component First
In thirty years of spa commissioning I have replaced hundreds of pretty fittings, but the one component I refuse to compromise on is the floor drain. In the confined volume of a jacuzzi, the suction that returns water to the pump concentrates at the sump, and an open or flat-grated drain can form a vortex strong enough to hold hair or a limb against it. An anti-vortex cover breaks that swirl into harmless, distributed flow. That is why every spa drain Waterstar manufactures carries an anti-vortex body as standard, never as an option, and why I tell every contractor the same thing: the drain is safety equipment first and plumbing second.
Two Ways to Connect: DS-THR and DS-WLD
We produce the drain in two connection styles so it suits your piping standard. The DS-THR carries a 1.5 inch threaded connection for sites that assemble with screwed fittings, while the DS-WLD is made for welding to 50 mm pipe, the common metric standard across our export markets. Both are supplied complete with body, gaskets, plastic nut and screws, so the installer is not improvising seals from whatever the local market offers that week. Choose by the pipe on your drawing, not by habit: a clean weld joint on 50 mm pipe and a properly sealed 1.5 inch thread are equally reliable when matched to their own system.
Casting It In and Getting Help
Set the drain body level in the shell before concreting, protect the thread or weld spigot from slurry, and pressure-test the suction line before the finish goes on; digging a leaking drain out of a tiled spa floor is a miserable, expensive lesson. Leave the screws accessible so the anti-vortex cover can be removed for inspection. Both models come out of our ISO 9001 factory in Badr City, Egypt, and travel to thirteen MENA markets. If you are unsure of the drain count or sump position for your spa, send our factory engineers your drawing; they will return a spa fitting layout with the suction side safely arranged.
