Pool Light Junction Boxes

The JB-1 junction box collects pool light cables above the waterline, seals connections to IP68 and integrates a transformer for one or two 12V lights.

The dry point in a wet circuit

Every underwater light needs one deliberately dry point where its cable can be joined, tested and disconnected, and providing that point is the whole job of the JB-1 junction box. Mounted above the waterline — typically behind the coping or in the deck close to its light — the box collects the cable rising from the fitting and terminates it where a technician can reach it without ever touching the water. Without a junction box, a light cable would have to run unbroken all the way to the plant room, and every fault would mean pulling the entire run; with one, the serviceable connection sits a short reach from the fixture. It is the quiet component that turns underwater lighting from a buried construction detail into a maintainable system.

IP68 sealing and the integrated transformer

The JB-1 seals its connections to IP68, the rating for continuous immersion, so deck washing, rain and the permanently humid poolside air never reach the terminals. And the box is more than an enclosure: its transformer was redesigned and integrated into the unit with the ability to support one or two light configurations, which makes the JB-1 the most cost-effective and energy-saving way to build a 12V lighting circuit for a typical pool. One box placed near the pool powers a single fitting or a pair, keeps the low-voltage run short, and removes the need for a separate transformer in the plant room. For the lights themselves, the Waterstar lighting page covers the fittings the box was designed to serve.

Scaling up: the 300W wall-mount transformer

When the design calls for more than one or two fittings per box — long pools lit along their full length, resort pools, water features carrying many small lights — Waterstar offers a 300W wall-mount transformer for these more complex multi-light installations. It centralizes the low-voltage supply on the plant room wall while JB-1 boxes continue to act as the sealed connection points near each light, so the system keeps its serviceability as it grows. The same boxes also simplify future relamping: the LB-series replacement bulbs described on the led bulbs page swap faster when every connection is reachable above water. Send the number of lights, their wattages and a plan of the pool to the Waterstar factory engineers and they will return the junction box count and transformer arrangement for the project.

Our Junction Box is the most cost effective and energy saving solution for a 12V lighting thanks to the new Junction Box Transformer that was redesigned with the ability to support one or two light configurations.
