Pool Skimmers: Types, Sizes and How to Choose
A skimmer draws in the top layer of the pool water, where leaves, oils and dust collect, and catches the debris in a basket before it reaches the pump and filter. Waterstar skimmers are made of rugged ABS as a single body with no submerged joints.
Standard Skimmer or Mini Skimmer?

Both come in versions for concrete pools and for liner pools. The concrete-pool Standard Skimmer is supplied with a vacuum plate, strainer basket and flap weir; the liner versions of the Standard Skimmer and all versions of the Mini Skimmer are supplied with a face plate, gaskets and screws.
Two attachments are solvent-cemented into the Mini Skimmer's 148 × 143 mm throat: the Mini Skimmer Extension (SKIM-01, 195 mm long) and the Mini Skimmer Wide Mouth Extension (SKIM-02, 300 × 185 mm opening).
How many skimmers, and where?
As a planning rule, allow one skimmer for every 25 m² of water surface, and at least one per pool. Place the skimmers on the downwind side, where the prevailing wind pushes floating debris, and set them so that the water level sits at the middle of the mouth.
Example: a 10 × 5 m pool has 50 m² of water surface and needs two skimmers, both on the downwind wall.
Pools with an overflow channel, such as deck-level or infinity-edge pools, skim through the channel instead of through skimmers.
